DEI ActivitiesSPLASH 2023
DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES @SPLASH23
1) Job Market Breakfast - Wednesday 25th
This is one of two mentoring breakfasts at SPLASH this year, to help junior members of the community build their support network and receive advice from more senior colleagues. This first breakfast will be for graduate students and postdocs who are on the job market or plan to be soon.
2) Junior Faculty Breakfast - Thursday 26th
This is one of two mentoring breakfasts at SPLASH this year, to help junior members of the community build their support network and receive advice from more senior colleagues. This breakfast is aimed at junior faculty members.
3) LGBTQ lunch - Wednesday 25th
This lunch will be held with the goal of bringing together members of the LGBTQ+ community and provide opportunities for networking and community building.
Lunch will be served in the conference hotel in a private area. Anyone who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community at SPLASH is welcome, including students, post-docs, faculty, and industry professionals.
4) URM lunch - Thursday 26th
The URM lunch is meant to bring together members of populations that have been historically underrepresented. The goal of this informal lunch is to foster relationships, and promote informal networking.
Lunch will be served in the conference hotel in a private area.
5) SIGPLAN-M lunch - Friday 27th
Aspiring and current programming language researchers can request mentoring through the SIGPLAN long-term mentoring program. The program pairs mentors with mentees for a year-long mentoring relationship. Anyone of any seniority can be a mentor—senior graduate students, for example, make great mentors.
6) Women@SPLASH dinner - Thursday 26th
The W@SPLASH dinner aims to connect women faculty, post-docs, and students. It is intended to celebrate achievements, small and big, and provide a low-pressure atmosphere to foster building one’s support group.
Events 1), 2), 5) and 6) require prior registration.
